Effect of estrous cycle stimulation with different PMSG/HCG mixtures on the fertility performance of ovulation-synchronized gilts

In 3 experiments, groups of gilts (140-669 females per group) were treated with either the standard 1000 IU PMSG (controls) or with combinations of 500 IU PMSG/250 IU HCG or 400 IU PMSG/200 IU HCG to induce ovulation. In 1 experiment, the 500 IU PMSG/250 IU HCG dose gave significantly poorer results (in terms of CR, farrowing rate and litter size) than controls, while in the other 2 experiments, differences were not significant. In the experiment where 400 IU PMSG/200 IU HCG was used, treatment gave significantly poorer results than the control.
