Induction of female flowers on male plants of Cannabis sativa L. by 2-chloroethanephos-phonic acid

Male plants of hemp developed female flowers when sprayed once to run-off with Ethrel at the start of flowering; 480 ppm. Ethrel induced 4.5% female flowers, 960 ppm. induced 69.9% female flowers; corresponding figures for male flowers were 27% and 6.3%, the remainder being intersexes. The apex took 4 and 6 weeks, respectively, to revert to production of normal male flowers.
