The immune response under PHA stimulation in the T lymphocytes of 15 heroin addicts is described. The responses were extremely variable; the average of all subjects tested showed a generally increased response. When a distinction was made between subjects with and without manifest liver disease, patients with liver damage had lower values than controls, while those without liver damage had higher ones.
