Cytochemical alterations in teleost hepatocytes induced by starvation

A cytochemmical study was performed in teleost levels was observed in starved animals after 60 days of experimentation. Glycogen reached its lower levels at 90 days and an inverse relationship between glycogen and acid phosphatase was seen. The former had a high level in animals fed ad lib; the latter appeared only in starved animals. The most important finding was related to glucose-6-phosphatase which showed an incipient and striking depletion at 30 days starvation.
