Paragangliomas of the head and neck: a review of the literature and report of a case

The diagnosis, clinical presentation and prognosis of paragangliomas of the carotid body, intravagal paragangliomas, jugular paragangliomas and paragangliomas of the upper airway and larynx are considered. A case is reported of carotid body ganglioma in a 63-yr-old woman who presented with a history of a slow, painless growth present for 5 yr. Surgical excision was carried out.
