85Sr was used to study the regional blood flow and initial phases of mineral metabolism in tissues of the knee joints. The data on the kinetics of the isotope were compared with different clinical forms of osteoarthrosis deformans and anatomical alterations in the osseous tissue of the affected joints. In arthrosis with reactive synovitis, the incorporation and clearance of the isotope from the tissues of the knee joint were discovered to be increased. The rate of 85Sr clearance from the osseous tissue depended on the intensity of degenerative and dystrophic alterations. Application of osteotrophic elements makes it possible to obtain objective data on the time course of pathological processes in the bones and joints.
