Vitreous humor, blood and CSF collected at antemortem and postmortem examination from 60 dogs were analyzed and compared. Euthanatized dogs were maintained at temperatures of 4.degree., 20.degree. or 37.degree. C for 3, 6, 12, 24 or 48 h. Several postmortem body fluid chemical values remained stable or changed in a consistent manner; urea nitrogen (UN), glucose and Na in vitreous humor; UN, CO2, and Na in CSF; UN, Ca, amylase, total protein and glucose in blood.
