Invitations for participation in the antitobacco smoking campaign were sent to 131 men aged 40-59 yr. As a result of double post invitations and home visits, 57 men (43.5%) of the group screened were recruited to participate in group studies. Persons (32) rid themselves of the participation because of the absence of tobacco smoking discontinuance motivation. As a result of the 3 mo. campaign (home visits), 25 (19.68%) subjects discontinued tobacco smoking and 14 (11.02%) came to smoke a less number of cigarettes (by 25% and more). The participants of the group studies more frequently (statistical significance of data, P < 0.001) discontinued tobacco smoking as compared with non-participants. It has been shown that psychological support increased by 13.38% the number of subjects who discontinued tobacco smoking after prophylactic examination.
