Ecological notes on the circulation of arboviruses in the northern coast of Havana province

The Havana Province north coast, from Havana Bay to Mariel Bay, is geographically described; the zone is irrigated by several rivers, is being reforested and is a site of human construction activity. Fourteen eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus isolates were obtained from different species of birds, some endemic and others migratory, in the Guajaibon region, and another EEE virus strain was isolated from Aedes and Psorophora mosquitoes. The possibility that arbovirus is endemic to this zone is pointed out.
