Fractionation of nucleic acid from Cicer arietinum cotyledons at different stages of development showed an increase in 4S RNA accompanied by a decrease in rRNA during development. Nucleotide composition of 4S RNA indicated a decrease in guanylic and uridylic acids and an increase in cytidylic and pseudouridylic acids at maturity. Cytidylic and uridylic acids increased while guanylic acid decreased in rRNA during cotyledon development. The thermal denaturation curves for DNA were sigmoid and indicated the presence of a single type of DNA.
