A case of primary tuberculosis of the appendix per se is reported. The diagnosis was possible only on histological examination. Only 2 cases of appendicular tuberculosis were seen in a 4-year-period out of 340 appendices removed surgically. The appendix was not involved in any of the 20 cases of ileocaecal tuberculosis examined. Although intestinal tuberculosis is in most instances secondary, primary tuberculosis of the intestines and even of the appendix is not impossible.
