Attacking and solving the world food problem is viewed as being dependent upon the interactions of agricultural technology, resource utilization, political cooperation, sociology, and information sciences. Multinational planning and policy making is particularly dependent on the exchange of information. The U.S. government's responsibilities lie largely in disseminating scientific information, technological tools, and in further investigating food distribution systems. The international scientific community can provide mechanisms for information exchange, data base creation and maintenance, and development of food standards to support and encourage global food policy. World efforts must be directed toward the provision of adequate food and nutrition to meet human needs. (cj)
