Androgen receptors: a quantitative investigation in female unexplained hirsutism

The pathogenetic theories concerning unexplained female hirsutism prompted the study of the behavior of androgen receptors in this condition. Data obtained showed a decreased concentration of androgen receptor proteins in the skin of hirsute patients. Three working hypotheses are discussed to explain this phenomenon.
