Characteristics of the development of strangulation asphyxia in various methods of complete hanging

The results of 72 experiments using rabbits with variations in the type of hanging material and position of the noose are reviewed. Variations in the character and duration of asphyxiation are related to the type of strangulation, i.e., hanging with a sudden jerk causes an acceleration in asphyxiation.
