The incidence of HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma) in the United States is considered low, particularly during the 1st 4 decades of life. Statistics indicate a steady rise during the period 1918-1953 in the United States and elsewhere. The cases of 3 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, aged 16, 17 and 19 yr, encountered among the unselected population of the southwestern part of Suffolk County, New York [USA] 2 yr from 1975-1977 are discussed.
