Econazole treatment of fungal infections: an open trial

In an open trial of 130 patients, with a variety of fungal infections, econazole nitrate cream produced a cure rate of 93%. Fungi isolated from patients (some with mixed infections) included 47 Trichophyton rubrum, 23 T. mentagrophytes var. interdigitale gypseum and 1 T. verrucosum. T. rubrum infections provided most failures.
