Analysis of aqueous humor protein by microdisc electrophoresis--analysis of aqueous humor protein mainly in glaucoma capsulare

The aqueous humor of 45 patients, including 6 with glaucoma capsulare and 5 with exfoliation syndrome, was examined by microdiscelectrophoresis (.psi. = 3 mm). Polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic patterns of glaucoma capsulare and exfoliation syndrome were compared with cataract patients. In 1 patient with glaucoma capsulare and 1 patient with exfoliation syndrome, abnormal bands were found in the area of .alpha.1-globulin, .alpha.2-globulin and .beta.-globulin. In a patient with glaucoma capsulare an abnormal band was found in the area of .alpha.1-lipoprotein. This method will be available for the detection of abnormal substance in the aqueous humor of glaucoma patients, uveitis patients and other diseases.
