Delayed-action clonidine capsules in the therapy of arterial hypertension

A clonidine dosage-form, perlongetten which releases the active principle gradually during 6 h after ingestion was submitted to clinical trial. Of 30 patients, 17 (with mild hypertension) responded to a single daily capsule; the remaining patients required 2 capsules daily or 2 capsules plus a diuretic. Perlongetten was effective and improved patient compliance. Side effects were reduced.
