On the basis of the experience gained in the treatment of 56 patients with chronic renal insufficiency accompanied in 24 patients with pneumonia, and in 32 patients with pulmonary edema criteria was developed for differential diagnosis of the uremic pulmonary edema and pneumonia. Differentiating these 2 conditions involves a complex evaluation of the clinical, functional, roentgenological and biochemical findings; determination of central venous pressure is particular value. The use of the criteria offered enables the differentiation between pneumonia and pulmonary edema, and the ability to choose the proper therapeutic measures.
