Baader's dermatostomatitis, a rare variety of erythema multiforme exudativum

In 1925 Bader attempted to distinguish a combined severe affection of the buccal mucosa and skin as a distinct nosological entity, dermatostomatitis. Subsequent studies of the new disease led most investigators to include it among erythema multiforme exudativum forms (EME). On the basis of the analysis of clinical features in 3 patients with the symptom complex of dermatostomatitis, it is thought to be a rare variety of EME. The proposal not to use this term for designation of dermatic diseases is considered to be completely justified. Therapists, stomatologists and dermatologists should be better informed about this form of EME. The therapy should be carried out in cooperation with stomatologists. Encouraging results have been obtained after administration of presocyl.
