Tissue distribution of palmitoyl-coA synthetase in chicken

The presence of palmitoyl-CoA synthetase activity in chicken liver, intestine, heart, brain and adipose tissue is demonstrated. The enzyme(s) from these tissues responded differently to lysophosphatidylcholine and Triton X-100. The enzyme from chicken intestinal mucosa and liver was stimulated by lysophosphatidylcholine and Triton X-100, while the enzymes from heart and brain were inhibited by either compound. In contrast, the enzyme from adipose tissue was stimulated by lysophosphatidylcholine and Triton X-100 had no effect on the enzyme activity.
