Use of prostaglandin F2 alpha gel prior to termination of pregnancy of primigravidae for cervix maturation

Viscous gel containing 2.5 mg of prostaglandin F2alpha was locally applied for cervix maturation to 106 primigravidae prior to termination of pregnancy. Spontaneous abortion occurred in 33 women. Cervix maturation was up to expectation in 66 cases and was not in 7. Side effects were minor. The method is considered highly suitable for nulliparous women. (author's)
