Angiopathic changes in the lesser circulatory vessels and hemodynamic disturbances in them have definite significance in the development of myocardial contractile dysfunction in diabetics. An inverse relationship was noted between pressure indices in the pulmonary artery and the disturbance levels of right ventricular contraction cycle indices. The reduction in myocardial contractile function depends on the severity of the diabetes.
