Subareolar breast abscess is an uncommon but not rare lesion which, when treated by incision and drainage, frequently results in recurrent abscess and fistulization. Treatment of the acute abscess by repeated aspiration and antibiotics is effective in controlling the infection and avoids the subsequent development of fistula and recurrent abscess.
