Resistance to griseofulvin

During 1970-80, among 489 dermatophyte isolates studied, 5 resistant strs. were found (4 Trichophyton rubrum, 1 T. mentagrophytes). These resistant strs. were capable of growth in medium containing 100 g/ml griseofulvin. It is suggested that these strs. possess secondary, rather than primary, resistance to griseofulvin.
