The non-transmissibility of the Edmonston strain of measles virus used for distemper immunization, was demonstrated by failure to transmit the virus by aerosol from vaccinated pups to susceptible Cercopithecus monkeys. Monkeys in direct contact for three weeks remained clinically normal and serologically negative for measles virus antibody.
