Perineurioma. A distinctive form of the peripheral nerve tumor

The tumor of the forearm from a 51 yr old woman was classified as a neurofibroma by light microscopy, which was composed of the cells with thin and elongate cytoplasms and gave a storiform pattern in most areas. By EM, the tumor cells were characterized by the presence of cell processes extending in the long distance, pinocytotic vesicles along the cell surface and interrupted basement membrane. These fine structural features of the tumor have close resemblance to the perneurial cell of the nerve and seemed to represent perineurioma newly proposed as a histological entity by Lazarus.
