Fertility after surgical treatment of uterine leiomyomas

The observations covered 26 women, who underwent in the yr 1963-1977 myomectomy. In the postoperative course no complications were met. In 2 subjects renewal of uterine myomas was observed after 9 and 10 yr of observation, which led to total hysterectomy (7.7% of cases). In another 9 cases primary sterility persisted for 2-15 yr of observation. In 8 other women pregnancy occurred (30.7% of cases). In these subjects in 11 observed gestations miscarriage happened in 2 only (21 wk and 16 wk of gestation), the other 9 gestations resulted in term livebirth. A high incidence of cesarean deliveries (75%) was seen in this group.
