The need for new noninvasive diagnostic methods was discussed and data were presented from Doppler ultrasonography of a patient with Leriche's syndrome. The value of radionuclide methods was considered. Indications for reconstructive operations were given. The need for timely diagnosis and early surgical treatment of patients with aneurysms of the abdominal aorta was emphasized. Other surgical techniques include revascularization of the myocardium and aortocoronary shunting. Rehabilitative measures are necessary after surgery.
