Antibacterial treatment of acute pneumonias in children

Basic data on the sensitivity of the microbial flora prevailing in pneumonias are briefly presented, and so are data on the evaluation of the risk of destructive process development and on the effectiveness of antibacterial therapy in acute pneumonias. On the basis of these data the author succeeded in elaborating the rules (an algorithm) for administering antibiotics. The use of these rules made it possible to expand the application of penicillin, to reduce the mortality and the frequency of development of the destructive processes. Importance of exercizing a permanent control of the results of antibiotic therapy of acute pneumonias is stressed.
