The patients were aged 6-75 yr and infected with N. asteroides, which affected the chest wall in 1 patient, bone marrow in another, and was isolated from sputum from 2 patients. In the 5th case the lungs and kidneys were affected at postmortem. This patient had disseminated infection following corticosteroid therapy. Various treatments were given, viz. sulphisoxazole, minocycline, trisulphapyrimidines and penicillin.
