Pancytopenia secondary to non-reactive tuberculosis. Report of a case

A patient with undetermined febrile syndrome had pancytopenia and hepatic insufficiency, with fatal outcome 11 days after admission to hospital. The autopsy disclosed tuberculous involvement of different organs, including the bone marrow, without any cellular reaction. Such a finding is rare but, because of the interrelationship between tuberculosis and blood disease, tuberculosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of febrile pancytopenia.
