An investigation into the origin of bacteriophage non-typable strains of Staphylococcus aureus

Bacteriophage non-typable strains of staphylococci from a variety of hospital sources were tested and it was found that some were of animal origin, although the specific animal reservoir could not be determined. As the number of such strains was small their existence cannot be a significant reason for any strain of S. aureus not being typable using the standard phage set.
