The influence of season (summer or winter) on partial renal function was studied in 96 patients with chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) under conditions of the lowlands of Kirghizia [Kirghiz SSR, USSR]. There are statistically significant seasonal variations of effective renal blood flow, glomerular filtration, tubular water reabsorption and water diuresis in patients with latent, hematuric and nephrotic forms of CGN. Seasonal variations of renal function in patients with hypertonic and mixed forms, and especially with chronic renal insufficiency, were either slightly marked or absent. Partial renal function may be subject to definite seasonal variations with preservation of the adequate structure and mass of functioning nephrons.
