Results of determining the diffusion capacity of the lungs in respiration retention (DLrr) and in normal state (DLns) in 69 patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis were analyzed depending upon the level and reversibility of obstruction and also on the presence of roentgenological signs of emphysema. In transient obstruction, the DLbh, is recommended for use in diagnosis of the emphysematous (type A) and bronchitis (type B) pathophysiological syndromes of respiratory derangement in chronic obstructive bronchitis.
