This review deals with the pathophysiology of thrombus formation on foreign surfaces. The partners of this reaction (thrombocytes, vessel wall, foreign surfaces respectively) are discussed in detail also the haemostasiological problems of dialysators. The administering of low-dose heparin is recommended.
