Angiography in the diagnosis of soft tissue tumours

Angiography was performed on 37 soft tissue tumors in 35 patients. In 13 patients the histopathological diagnosis proved to be malignant and in 22 benign. In 25 tumors angiography had suggested a benign lesion, thus, giving a false result in 4 cases. In 11 tumors the angiographic diagnosis was malignant, giving a false positive result on 3 occasions. In 1 case the radiological interpretation was uncertain whether malignant or not. The use of intra-arterial vasoactive agents is of some help in defining the character and the anatomical extent of the tumor.
