Contraction of cat nictitating membrane by tetramisole

Tetramisole produced a dose-dependent persistent contraction of cat nictitating membrane. This was not significantly altered by prior adrenalectomy or reserpinization and tyraminization, but was abolished by prior .alpha.-blockade. Tetramisole has been reported to have antidepressant activity.
