Blood, urine, and skin biopsy samples were examined from 11 pet dogs living in close contact with human cases of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). There were no clinical signs or laboratory findings consistent with a diagnosis of the disease and it is concluded that SLE is not a zoonosis of dogs.
