Adult L. exigua were collected from infested buffaloes and, after preconditioning 2 hours in the dark, were used in batches of 10 flies released to crawl on insecticide-treated surfaces for 5 minutes before recollection for observation of subsequent mortality. Analysis of results ranged the insecticides in order of toxicity, giving approximate values:- endrin (3000), parathion (1000), HCH (600), DDT (500), carbaryl (21), and malathion.
