Administration of cyproterone acetate to adult cycling mice (in a dose of 2 mg per animal on alternate days, for a period of 36 days) caused widespread ovarian damage, followed by a significant decrease in the weight of the ovaries. These changes were accompanied by an increase in uterine weight along with increased levels of protein, RNA, sialic acid and glycogen. These effects, being parallel to those caused by estradiol dipropionate, indicate that cyproterone acetate has an estrogenic effect. [The present study is an experimental attempt to evaluate the antifertility action of the drug with particular emphasis on its action upon the uterus and vagina.].
