Experiments were carried out on 24 dogs anesthetized with 20 mg/kg Nembutal, i.v. In 15 animals stomach and intestinal innervation was preserved, in 9 a bilateral subphrenic vagotomy was performed and all intestinal branches were cut off consecutively. Angiotension II [AII] was i.v. administered in 0.2 and 1 .cntdot. 10-6 g/kg doses. AII in a 0.2 .cntdot. 10-6 g/kg dose decreases slow rhythm potentials (SRP) frequency and increases their velocity of conduction. In a 1 .cntdot. 10-6 g/kg dose it raises the frequency and velocity in an intact stomach, after denervation both doses of AII increase SRP frequency and decrease the velocity of conduction. The octapeptide in dose 0.2 .cntdot. 10-6 g/kg raises the amplitude of contractions both in an intact and denervated small intestine.
