Amebic meningoencephalitis in Arkansas

A fatal case of amoebic meningoencephalitis is reported in a 6.5-year-old girl who had been swimming in a reservoir in northwest Arkansas, USA. She died 2.5 days after the onset of symptoms. Amoebae were discovered in the brain and spinal cord.
