During 7-day hypokinesia heparin was administered by i.v. at 1500 units/kg of animal wt to 11 preexperimental rabbits twice a day. A group of 14 rabbits was kept under hypokinesia for the same duration without heparin and served as the 1st control group. A 2nd control group of 19 intact rabbits was used for hemostatic tissue evaluation. Blood coagulation in preexperimental rabbits and ECG were studied before and after hypokinesia. Heparin apparently prevents the development of a thrombogenic situation during hypokinesia by decreasing the hemocoagulation potential and increasing fibrinolytic activity of blood and tissues. Heparin produced a favorable effect on tissue trophicity by improvement of bioelectric activity of the myocardium. This experiment may have applications to space flight.
