The serial dilution method for assaying streptonivicin in body fluids is shown to he incapable of accurately detecting concentrations in serum below 8.0 μg./ml. A. modification of this method by first extracting the fluids with ethyl acetate at an acid pH is presented. By this method, serum concentrations of the antibiotic as low as 0.5 μg./ml. can be detected. Equally good results are obtained when urine, milk, human cerebrospinal fluid, and homogenates of dog tissues are assayed for known concentrations of the antibiotic by this method.
