Role of the acid alpha-naphtyl acetate esterase (ANAE) positive spots of T-cells in experimental trichinellosis of mice

Injection of acid alpha -naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) positive spots (daily from day 0 to 30) into mice infected with 200 Trichinella spiralis larvae did not influence B-cells, but decreased the stimulation of T-cells. Mast cells in the lamina propria of the jejunal mucosa were mobilized more quickly and their peak value was reached 5 days earlier than in control mice. The peak level was however about half that reached in controls. There were fewer granulocytes (especially eosinophilic) in the jejunal inflammatory infiltration in treated mice, but the expulsion of adult worms occurred sooner. These results are in opposition to those described in the previous paper where ant-ANAEpS serum stimulated T-cells and polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
