Recent findings on the prevalence of human toxocariasis (Toxocara canis) are reviewed. Knowledge of the life-cycle and transmission essential to control is discussed and some modifications are suggested to current veterinary practice that may limit the opportunities for transmission of the parasite from dog to man.
