Isolation of volatile fatty acids from rat saliva

The dynamics of excretion of radioactive metabolites in the saliva of white rats was studied after i.p. administration to the animals of 14C-VFA . A direct relationship was found between the dose of VFA inoculated and metabolite concentration in the saliva. Because of the observed low concentration of metabolites the presumed possibility of using saliva for biochemical diagnosis of ascariasis seems doubtful.
