Pulmonary aspergillosis and chronic septic granulomatosis

Two cases in children are reported. In one case, caused by Aspergillus fumigatus, diagnosis was made early by open biopsy and therapy with amphotericin B and 5-fluorocytosine was successful. In the other case, in which A. nidulans was isolated, diagnosis was delayed and the patient died with disseminated haematogenous spread of the fungal infection, despite therapy including intravenous amphotericin B.
