In vitro and in vivo 3-component low density lipoprotein complexes with fibrinogen and basic proteins appeared after the introduction of protamines or whole histone into the circulation in dogs. In the atheromatically changed arterial walls in man the contents of cholesterol, basic proteins and fibrinogen degradation products were increased compared to normal arteries.
